Five people were either appointed or reappointed to the St. Johns River State College District Board of Trustees.
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced this month that Alexandria Hill and Kevin Payne were newly appointed to the panel. Meanwhile, Richard Komando, Willard “Judd” Sapp Jr. and Tammy “Chereese” Stewart were reappointed to the College Board.
St. Johns River State College has three campuses in as many counties, including locations in Orange Park, Palatka and St. Augustine. They draw about 8,000 students across the three campuses.
Hill is active in the Clay County community and is a member of the Clay County Development Authority. She’s a Partner in the Driver, McAfee, Hawthorne & Dibenow law firm.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from Stetson University and later earned her law degree from the University of Florida.
Payne is the Senior Manager of Contracting for the Imagine 360 health insurance company. He’s also President of the Jacksonville Association of Health Underwriters. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University.
Komando is a lawyer with a long history on the First Coast and is currently a Partner in the Bradley, Garrison & Komando law firm. He’s been a Circuit Director and Statewide General Counsel for the Fourth Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Office for Northeast Florida. He’s a former Assistant State Attorney in that circuit.
Komando has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice along with a master’s degree in business administration from Florida State University (FSU). His law degree is from Loyola University.
Sapp owns W.J. Sapp & Son Inc., a railroad contractor in Baldwin. He’s also a U.S. Navy veteran and a former member of the St. Johns County Day School Board of Trustees. Sapp obtained a bachelor’s degree from FSU.
Stewart is the Assistant County Manager for the Clay County Commission. She was previously elected to that panel and is also a member of the Clay County Development Authority, Clay County Cattlemen Association, Clay County Farm Bureau and the Florida Planning and Zoning Association.
Stewart’s bachelor’s degree is from Texas A&M University, and she later earned a master’s in educational leadership and administration from the University of North Florida.
The Florida Senate still has to confirm the appointments.
