Florida’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds rallied with supporters a South Florida Cuban staple.
As part of his campaign’s statewide bus tour, Donalds and his running mate Bryan Avila appeared at La Carreta on Southwest Miami-Dade on Tuesday afternoon.
7News cameras captured a packed room of supporters and Spanish music playing on the speakers inside the restaurant.
Donalds shook hands and hugged many in the crowd as he hyped them up ahead of the midterms elections.
Following the event, 7News got a chance to speak to Donalds who spoke about the issues at hand.
“Affordability is on top of everybody’s mind. My plan lowers insurance premiums 20% in the state of Florida. We also want to make sure that we are stabilizing the cost in health care. We want to make sure we drive down the cost of prescription drugs. We do that through reforms in our Medicaid system here in Florida. So there’s common sense things that we want to be able to do, make lives more affordable, and I think we’re going to be very successful on November 3rd,” the Republican candidate said.
It is the third stop of the day for Donalds, who also held events in Melbourne and Fort Pierce.
Donalds has been endorsed by outgoing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and President Donald Trump. The candidate will host a rally in Fort Myers with Trump this weekend.
On the democratic side, candidate David Jolly held an event with former President Bill Clinton in Hollywood.
