Another round of rising prices could be coming, based on recent hikes in oil prices and gasoline futures.

Gas in the Sunshine State is now the most expensive it’s been in nearly four years, according to AAA — The Auto Club Group.

Last week, the price for a gallon of regular gas in Florida surged 40 cents, rising from $3.94 on Monday to $4.34 on Sunday.

That price, which remained steady Monday morning, is the highest daily average since July 2022.

AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins attributed the jump at the pump to “big gains” in oil and gasoline futures.

“The ongoing Iranian conflict and uncertainty tied to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is keeping upward pressure on fuel prices with no clear indication of letting up,” he said in a statement.

The latest round of rising gas prices followed a 13% increase in crude oil prices and a 46-cent hike in gasoline futures.

Another round of increases could be coming, though not as dramatic, AAA said. Last week, U.S. oil prices rose another 8%, while gas futures ticked up 13 cents.

Florida gas prices have risen $1.46 per gallon since the Iranian conflict began, from $2.88 per gallon to $4.34 per gallon.

For an average-sized tank of gas, that’s an extra $22 per fill-up.

The most affordable metropolitan market in Florida is Pensacola, where a gallon of gas costs $3.96 on average, followed by the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area ($3.99) and Panama City ($4).

The most expensive, meanwhile, is the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area ($4.50), followed by Naples ($4.41) and Gainesville ($4.40).

Nationally, Florida is in the middle of the pack in terms of gas prices. The cheapest gas is in Georgia, where a regular gas gallon costs $3.86.

As usual, the priciest fuel is in California, where gas costs $4.46 per gallon on average.
